Namaste!
“My name is Shital Praja. I’m 14 years old and studying in grade 8.
We have a family of four – my parents, me and my little brother. My mother works in Kathmandu. Sometimes me and my brother get the chance to visit her in Kathmandu.
I enjoy my friends’ company here at the hostel.”
“Life is more beautiful with a smile!”
Getting to know Shital…
We played a game called “Finish the Sentence”. These are her answers:
Among all the subjects taught in school, I like
Science the most. The other subjects require us to write elaborative answers but for Science questions we do not have to write long answers!
Something I will never get tired of doing is
dancing! I started ever since I was little. These days I’m into hip-hop. Me and my friends dance a lot at the hostel.
My favorite food is
momo and as for my favorite vegetables, I love Okras. But, I cannot stand the thought of having a Bottle Gourd!
My favorite cartoon character is
Ninja Hattori because it is not only funny but it teaches us many life lessons as well.
Something I wish for is
for our family to spend time together.
In the future, I want to be
a businesswoman. My family wants me to either be a businesswoman or a doctor. Personally, I would choose to be a business woman.
My journey with FTO…
“I know that FTO has helped me and my family a lot. As I’m growing older, I realize that I have been provided with the opportunity for education which we do not have in my village.
I don’t really remember my early days here because I came many years ago. But the hostel is my home – I grew up here.
After a long day at the school, I can relax and unwind. Sometimes we may fight over who gets the TV remote but most of the times, we agree that watching TV is a good way to sit back and relax. Additionally, I can play games and sing freely. I really enjoy this freedom and the facilities provided.
Over the years, I have made lifelong friends and received companionship at the hostel. I don’t feel alone because my friends are always there for me.
If I were back at my village, I think I would have had a very different life.”
