115 more families have received Food Parcels!!
Thank you so much to the people who have donated towards food relief in Nepal!
115 families – or 753 individual people – in Chitwan (see map below – Relief 6) have received food parcels.
These communities are from the Chepang and Gurung people groups who live in Chitwan. According to a United Nations Field Bulletin (issue 47, September 2012, pg. 1), “the Chepang people are one of Nepal’s most disadvantaged indigenous groups and are classified under the ‘highly marginalised’ category. The majority live in sheds made of tree branches and almost 90 percent of Chepangs live below the poverty line, earning around 6,000 Nepali rupees per capita annually” (AU $70).

A comment from a recipient of the food parcels.
My name is Paba. I live in Thaprang. In my family we 10 people living together. We have big family. I have only one son, my grandchildren are small, they are not able to earn money. My son is blind. He is unable to work. My daughter in law is our main earning person in our family (bread winner). She is doing labour work. It was so hard to manage food for our family. Hard to get labour work because of lockdown and Covid -19. Government gave to us 10 kg rice it was so small amount for our family. We were struggling for hand to mouth problem. In this situation FTO gave to us relief package, we are so happy and we are very much grateful to FTO. It is big support for our family and our community as well. We all are so much thankful to FTO team and sun Bahadur.
