chepang Project

Financially supporting Chepang children in Nepal to gain an education, giving them the opportunity to achieve their dreams and to positively impact their community.

the Kids

When you imagine yourself as a child, with all the dreams you had, did you ever envisage you would be married off at the age of 14? Working hard labour on an empty stomach? Or wondering when your next meal would come?

The Chepang children come from one of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in Nepal.  Many of their villages have limited education that ends at Year 5.  This means that these children are unable to further their education and face the pressure of marrying young and getting stuck in a cycle of poverty.

In 2016 a sponsorship program was setup by a generous donor to financially support 27 children from the Chepang people in gaining an education.  This would see these children achieve a year 10 education.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the current donor is unable to continue support.  We at Blue Ripple would like to step in and take on this commitment and help each one of these children finish their education.  But we cannot do this without you!

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

success so far

The Chepang Project has seen success already. With hard work and a strong will to have a better future, some of the previous students are on their way to achieving their goals.

Four students have graduated Year 10

One student has received a full Civil Engineering Scholarship with another student expecting to receive one this year.

How you can help

You can help support each one of these children to complete their education, by donating.

Not only will your donations help these children achieve their dreams, they will also empower them to change their communities for the better.

These two tables provide an overall summary of sponsorship by year and cost for the remaining 23 children.  These costs are for attending boarding school where they remain for the full year only returning to their villages during some holidays.  It includes tuition, text books and stationery, medical, clothing, food and lodging.

We committed to raising funds for the first year for all 23 children, we asked for your help and we have reached the goal.  Thank you to all those people who responded to our call!

The Chepang Project recognises that the dreams of a child can be a catalyst for change.
