When you imagine yourself as a child, with all the dreams you had, did you ever envisage you would be married off at the age of 14? Working hard labour on an empty stomach? Or wondering when your next meal would come?
The Chepang children come from one of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in Nepal. Many of their villages have limited education that ends at Year 5. This means that these children are unable to further their education and face the pressure of marrying young and getting stuck in a cycle of poverty.
In 2016 a sponsorship program was setup by a generous donor to financially support 27 children from the Chepang people in gaining an education. This would see these children achieve a year 10 education.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the donor was unable to continue their support in 2020. Blue Ripple stepped in, reached out to our community and took on the commitment for one year. That year has now passed and we’re ready to take on the commitment to help each one of these children continue their education for another year. Can you help?

The Chepang Project has seen much success already. With hard work and a strong will to have a better future, the students are on their way to achieving their goals.
Term 3 results have come out and all 22 students have done extremely well so far this school year.
1 Student achieved an A+
7 Students achieved an A
14 Students achieved a B+
Two students have received full Scholarships, one in Civil Engineering and the other in Management with another student having received a partial scholarship in Civil Engineering. All 3 students are doing very well and still in regular contact with us.

Not only will your donations help them achieve their dreams, they will also empower them to change their communities for the better.
This table provides an overall summary of sponsorship costs for 22 children at the boarding school and 2 uni students for one year.
$187 per month per child OR $2,250 per year per child.
- For the boarding school students the included costs are listed. The students will remain at school for the full year only returning to their villages during some holidays.
- For the 2 uni students the cost covers some of their books and accommodation. Both students work and are committed to providing as much themselves as they can.
